Industrial Solar Air Heating Projects - Velan
Velan, a world leader in the design and production of cast and forged severe service valves and steam traps across all major industrial applications required an additional 100,000 CFM of preheated fresh air for their existing production facility in Montreal. With the support of Gaz Metropolitain, a 15000 ft2 of MatrixAir® solar absorber over four facades was recommended and installed, overlaying the existing metal cladding. In order to facilitate connection of the solar collectors to the four, 25000 CFM make-up air units, the building-integrated, MatrixAir® facade exceeded the building height thereby creating a plenum to which the air handling units were connected. As a result of this installation Velan will be burning 35% less natural gas each year to heat its fresh air in the 150,000 ft2 affected areas versus a conventional make-up system alone*. |
